This is a list of the prefered parts used by Steel Ridge and notes about them.

Tubing

We use 1x1 (Legacy) and 2x1 (Legacy and Light) MAXTube from REV.

Model with Tube Converter.

Plate
  • Aluminum

We use 6061 Aluminum at 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" thicknesses.

Model by Sketching and Extruding.

Standoffs
  • 1/2" Rounded Hex

#10-32 tapped.

  • 1/2" Churro

1/4-20 tapped.

Model with Robot Shaft.

Spacers
  • Shaft Spacers

We use 3D Printed Shaft Spacers.

  • Screw Spacers

We use 3D Printed Screw Spacers. They're similar to standoffs, except instead of screws threading into them, they just go through them.

Power Transmission

Shaft
  • 1/2" Rounded Hex

We use 1/2" Rounded Hex Stock from WCP. For retention, we either #10-32 tap the ends and use WCP shaft end screws, or use shaft collars(also from WCP).

  • 1/2" Churro

We use Churros from AM sometimes, although Rounded Hex is Prefered. Retention is the same as 1/2" Rounded Hex, but instead of #10-32, we tap it 1/4-20.

Bearings
  • 1/2" Rounded Hex

For 1/2" Rounded Hex Shaft, we use bearings with a round bore and a 1.125" OD from WCP.

  • 1/2" Hex

For 1/2" Hex Shaft we use bearings with a 1/2" Hex bore and a 1.125" OD from WCP.

Insert with FRCDesign Inserter.

Gearboxes
  • MAXPlanetary Gearbox

We use MAXPlanetary Gearboxes from REV for fairly compact, easialy adaptable gear ratios with Kraken input.

  • VersaPlanetary Gearbox

We use VersaPlanetary Gearboxes from VEX for fairly compact, easialy adaptable gear ratios with Falcon input. Mounts with /#8-32 Hardware.

  • Sport Gearbox

We use Sport Gearboxes from AM for easy reductions with a Falcon input. Can use ratchet option.

  • Cycloidal Gearbox

We use Cycloidal gearboxes from TTB for high-torque applications, like pivots. Kraken Input and mounts with /#8-32 Hardware.

Gears
  • 20DP Gears

We use both aluminum and steel 20DP, 1/2" Hex Bore gears from WCP.

Insert with FRCDesign Inserter.

  • 3D Printed Gears

We can use custom 3D Printed gears.

Model with Spur Gear.

Belts/Pulleys
  • 5mm HTD Pulleys

We use 5mm HTD aluminum Pulleys with a 1/2" Hex Bore from WCP, with both 9mm and 18mm widths.

Insert with FRCDesign Inserter.

  • 3D Printed Pulleys

We use custom 3D Printed Pulleys.

Insert from Configurables Folder.

  • 5mm HTD Belts

We use 5mm HTD Belts in intervals of 5 teeth, starting at 30, in both 9mm and 15mm Widths.

Model with Belt and Chain Gen.

Chain/Sprockets
  • #25 Sprockets

We use #25 Sprockets from WCP with a 1/2" Hex Bore.

Insert with FRCDesign Inserter.

  • #25 Chain

We use #25 Chain.
